Leah's Happy Day!

We took Leah in today for a check up for the tubes in her ears.  (She had tubes put in when she was about 16 months old in December of 2007.)  Dr. Pete told me 6 months ago that if they were still in by this appointment then we'd make another appointment to have them removed.  When she was at her regular doctor a few months ago I was told one tube was loose.  Leah was hoping that her tubes had fallen out because she is tired of wearing her plugs every time she swims and takes a bath.

When Dr. Pete came in he looked in her ears and said he could see the one in the right ear.  He said it was out of the ear and just lying in the canal.  He stuck a really skinny tweezer like thing in and told Leah to hold still because he was pulling a potato out.  She giggled and the next thing she knew, he had the tube out.  He rolled her over and did the same thing on the other side.  She did flinch a little on the left side.  He said that one was still attached just a bit, but he was able to pull it free.  She didn't scream or anything, her eyes just teared up.

Leah was so ecstatic that they were out!  She just kept saying over and over that she does not have to wear her plugs anymore.

We got to bring her tubes home.  We cleaned them tonight and Leah said they looked like some of Daddy's tools.  (They are just tiny silver doughnut shaped metal pieces.)  We even have a case she can put them in to carry them around and show people. So be ready!
