Well, it's been official for about 2 weeks now. Cameron is no longer nursing. I weaned him, and he never looked back. How sad it that? For some reason it was particularly harder to wean him. I don't know if I was more attached to it this time or if it's the thought, that this could very well be the end of my nursing days. (Nothing is for sure.)
I had the girls weaned before we headed off to Minnesota when they were babies (Abby was 8 months and Leah was 10 or 11months). This time I thought, "Hey, there's no reason that I can't be nursing up there too." He was weaned during the day, so we wouldn't be tied down and miss any activities. By Minnesota, he was nursing when he got up and before bed. That was easy to do, especially since we have our own cabin. So we stuck with it through Minnesota.
When we got home, we started the weaning and he was done by the end of August. This is particularly hard as he gets older and hits newer milestones and the breastfeeding gets further and further away. It's also hard when he/we have a rough night and I can't nurse him for comfort in the middle of the night.
However, it sure makes things easier in the mornings when we are trying to get going. It is nice to get him set up in his high chair with some breakfast and a big cup of milk. He'll eat while watching all the morning mayhem going on around him. At night, its nice to let Greg get him ready for bed and be able to put him down sometimes.
I do so miss our 20 minutes of quiet bonding time before bed. But we make up for it with books and snuggle time in the rocker or on the beanbag.
