Part 2
(For
those of you who are just first reading about our cruise, be sure to check out
Part 1 first)
Saturday, May 19th
Key West
This
was the morning of our Princess Meet and Greet.
Abby dressed up as Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Leah dressed up as
Rapunzel and Cameron dressed up as Buzz Lightyear. We had received a tip the night before at
dinner to eat at the restaurant right outside of where the Princesses would be
so we would have a view of the lines forming and could jump right in. This worked out so well since we were the 3rd
group in line.
They
got to meet, take pictures with and have autographs signed by Snow White, Tiana
(Princess and the Frog), Cinderella, Belle and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and
even Peter Pan. We had missed Princess
Minnie by just a few seconds. (Cameron
was only willing to meet with Snow White and Peter Pan.)
After
the Meet and Greet we took the kids to the Oceaneer’s Club. It is a secured kids’ area on the boat where
we can drop them off. There are tons of activities planned and it allows the
parents time to do things on their own. Gregory
and I took the opportunity to get off the ship and explore a little bit of Key
West. There wasn’t much to do but we
looked around at some of the shops and sites.
After
we returned to the ship we picked the kids up and went swimming on the top deck
in the Mickey Mouse shaped pool. It wasn’t
the warmest of weather, but it didn’t stop the kids from swimming.
After
swimming, we headed to our room to clean up and get ready for dinner. This night we ate at the Animator’s
Palate. This restaurant was decorated in
all black and white and throughout dinner the walls filled in with colors. It was really neat to watch.
Every
night on the boat there was a Broadway show.
This night was a show called Villain’s Tonight. It was a great show from the view of all the villains
of all the Disney shows together. It was
really, really good.
Finally
after the show we headed back to our room and ordered room service for a
snack. We got some cheese and crackers
and some fruit and some chicken wings.
When we had just finished up the snack, Abby was acting funny again and
thought she was tired. Unfortunately
that wasn’t the case and she ran to the bathroom and threw up again. Uggh!
We thought we were over it. She
hadn’t gotten sick in almost 18 hours and we all thought we were in the
clear. She thinks that maybe she had
just eaten too much before her stomach was ready.
We
all headed to bed and thankfully she had made it through the night with no more
incidents. In fact that would be her
last incident for the week. {By
this time, Cameron’s diarrhea was better.
So that was good.}
Sunday, May 20th
On
this day, the cruise stayed at sea the whole day while we traveled to the
Bahamas. There was plenty to do to keep
busy.
Greg
and I attempted to watch a movie. There
is a full sized theater on the ship and they were showing Avenger’s in 3D. We had dropped the kids off in the Oceaneer’s
club again and got through about 2/3’s of the movie when we got a page that
Cameron wanted to be picked up. (Each
room is supplied with special phones so you could be reached if your kids
needed you.) I rushed down there while
Gregory finished the movie. I was concerned
that something had happened to him. When
I got to the area we had dropped him off, he was nowhere to be found. This put me into panic mode. The girls couldn’t find him either. Finally they were able to tell me that he had
gone to a different part of the kids club.
I knew then that he must have gotten there and got freaked out because
his sisters were not around. I was not
happy with this set up that he could be moved from one area to another. I do feel it is really secure but I didn’t
like the idea of them being separated because Cameron would get scared on his
own. Therefore, I had them put a message
on our account that he would not be able to move to any area without being with
his sisters. This made us all feel
better.
The
four of us then went to pick Gregory up from his movie and headed up to the top
deck for some lunch. Gregory really
enjoyed the seafood buffet they had this day.
After
lunch the kids wanted to go to the Ratatouille
Cooking School. We had thought we would
drop them off for this and go and enjoy the adult pool and dining area. However, when we got to the kids club we
found out it was a family activity so we all stayed. They made cookies with the help of their
chef. It was a fun activity. (Unfortunately, Gregory and I never made it
to the adult areas of the ship.)
Afterwards, Cameron was so tired,
we took him to the room for a nap and the girls did a story time with Belle in
the kid’s area. When that was finished
we picked them up and got ready for dinner.
Tonight it was Formal Night and
we were eating at Parrot Cay restaurant.
It wasn’t too incredibly formal. The
characters were all dressed in their fancy clothes, though.
After dinner we enjoyed the
Broadway show, Twice Charmed. This was a
different twist on the Cinderella story.
We enjoyed the show while also sitting with our table mates. It was a lot of fun hanging out with another
family. When the show was over, we went
to another Meet and Greet. Since it was
about 10pm, there were not too many kids up still so the lines were not too bad. The kids got to meet Daisy, Pluto, Donald and
Mickey Mouse.
