One small step....

I DID IT!!!!

Being the first week of Summer Vacation 2011, I wanted to take the kids to the Botanical Gardens.  On Wednesdays it is free before noon.  Outside a local park or store, I have never taken all 3 kids on an outing by myself.  I am so terrified of losing one while keeping track of the others or checking out the sites.  However, in order to convince Abby to not sign up for summer school this summer, I  promised we would actually do some fun things and leave the house now that they are all older.  {Of course the more I thought about this after saying it, the more I freaked out on the inside.  But a promise is a promise.  I also looked at it as a small challenge or goal to meet over the summer.}

So we made it up and out of bed before 9am.  Everyone was dressed and fed and we were out the door by 9:15am.  Not bad.  I was shooting for 8:30am but decided to take time to actually eat myself (to cut down on my own crabbiness) and I thought about sunscreen as we were leaving so I needed to stop and apply to all 4 of us.  YES!  I EVEN REMEMBERED SUNSCREEN!!!

I went over safety rules again and again and again.  I also warned them that if it didn't go well, we would be staying home all summer.  It went well.  Cameron got a little tired from walking since this is the first summer we are trying to not take the stroller everywhere.  They had treehouses everywhere that they kids got to run through and climb on and he really enjoyed this.  It would have been a hassle getting him in and out of the stroller. 

Next time I will remember to bring a snack and a drink for them for when we return to the car.  This is usually my area but I'd say if that's all that went amiss today, I did pretty darn good.
