Disney Cruise 2012 Part 4

Part 4

(For those of you who are just first reading about our cruise, be sure to check out Parts 1, 2 & 3 first)

Wednesday, May 23rd   Florida

We had a rental car and a whole day ahead of us until we needed to be at the Orlando airport for our flight that evening.

Our first stop HAD to be the beach.  We had not collected any shells yet and the kids were determined to head home with arms full of them!

After the beach, we made a quick stop at a gas station because we needed
Toy Story Lego Display
some change for the toll booths.  We also picked up some snacks.

We then headed to Orlando.  Our table mates on the cruise told us about Downtown Disney and we had to check it out.  We had some time to browse.  It was basically a plaza full of a bunch of Disney and other themed stores and restaurants all spread out over several miles.  The first store we came to was the Lego store!  Walls and walls of Legos!  There were also several Lego displays including Toy Story and Star Wars!  That was pretty neat.

We ate lunch at the Rainforest CafĂ©.  I have always wanted to eat there.  In this restaurant, it is decorated like the Rainforest and every 20 minutes a “storm” hits (it’s all lights and sound) and every 10 minutes the animals come to life.  The kids (and me) really enjoyed the scenery while we ate.

Eating “off-ship” was such a disappointment.  No one cut our food for us; no one made fun designs with our condiments.  The staff was friendly but nothing compared to the Disney friendliness we were used to.  To top it off…..they handed us a check as we were leaving.  That’s when we knew we were back to reality.

We checked out a couple more stores before hitting the highway and heading towards the airport.  None of us wanted to make that final leg of the trip.  It signified the ending of our vacation and back to normalcy.  Uggh!

Fortunately, we did not have any of the craziness we had experienced on the way down to Florida.  We were able to again check the kids’ carry-on’s since the plane was full.  This helped us immensely and was one less thing we had to mess with when we switched planes in Atlanta.  We did not have any problems finding the airport, returning our rental car or getting to our gate.  Thankfully there were no plane delays and we made it back to St. Louis on time.

Leah & Cameron passed out on Abby's shoulders on the way to the airport
The kids were excited to see Douglas when we got back to Lambert.  We are thankful that he was able to meet us and pick us up.

We got home about 10:30pm and the kids went right to bed.  We were all sad to end our vacation but were happy to be sleeping in our own beds.
