2012-2013 School Year begins!!

Twas the day before school starts and all through the house, not a carton of ice cream was to be found...so I took the kids to Culver's for some "End of Summer" ice cream. Yum!

Abby - 3rd Grade & Leah -Kindergarten

I can hardly believe that Abby is old enough to be in the third grade and is it even possible that Leah started Kindergarten this year?  Oh boy!  It is so hard to believe.  Leah was super excited to be at the big school with Abby and going to school every day, all day.  Abby was excited to be on the second floor with the big kids (even though she dreaded all the flights of stairs all summer).   

Leah never had any hesitation about starting school until the night before.  She lay in bed sobbing because she didn’t want to be away from Mommy and Daddy all day.  She didn’t want to leave her toys and not be at home all day long.  It was tough, but I took on the burden and laid with her while she cried herself to sleep.  We really think most of the apprehension had to do with being over tired and a little anxious.  The morning of, she jumped right out of bed and had no problems at all.  It was truly bitter sweet to send her off to Kindergarten.  I knew she was more than ready but I really do miss having her at home with me all day. 

Abby is doing absolutely great!  She is loving school and is doing so great!  This is her first year for actually getting a grade (percentages and A-F's).  She is a little nervous about it but so far everything is coming home with high grades!  She is also racing to be the first to make her reading goal in her class (her own challenge) and is at 65% of her goal achieved already by the 3rd week! She loves to read!!!!!!!!

I took a picture of each girl and their school picture from the previous year.  It is amazing to see how much they have changed.  I hope to do this every year.  Its so cool!
