On Friday, they had a Trike A Thon at preschool. Abby has only ridden her bike about 2 times but she was adamant to go. I took her and it turned out to be really good. They had a large area to ride, so those who don't ride as well, had enough space to ride around slowly and not be in the speedsters' way. Abby was doing well and being very careful. She kept getting stuck when she would stop and try to turn. I told her to slow down and pedal as she turns. She started doing this and was doing well, until.....she fell. She was going a little faster and I was not 'right there' and she tipped over. Boy did she scream! Everyone in Arnold could hear her. She was fine, but I think it really scared her. She refused to get back on the bike and we sat in the heat on the curb. I could not encourage her to get back on until I used my great parenting skills. I offered to buy her a Sprite on the way home if she'd get back on and see that she could do it. She jumped at the chance and got up. She did better but would not let me let go of her bike. I was just happy that she got back on and saw that she could do it.
We plan to head to the park this week so she can practice some more. Unfortunately we have a sloped driveway and live at the top of a busy "T" in the street, so we don't get to practice much at home.
