We signed the kids up for swimming lessons again this spring. This year Cameron was old enough to take lessons, but it was a parent-child class. So I got to join him.
We tried the YMCA for lessons this time and had a much more positive experience. Abby got to take her lessons in the big "adult" pool. Leah and Cameron's lessons were right next to each other in the smaller pool. This made it very convenient for me to be able to watch Leah while in class with Cameron.
All three of our classes were taught by great instructors and were great experiences. Cameron really enjoyed the games they played, but hated having water splashed in his face or dunked in the water. He stared out very apprehensive to jumping into the pool off the side, but by the end of the sessions, he was doing it effortlessly!
Leah finished her session by feeling more confident at swimming on her own (with a floatie) and not having someone constantly holding her up in the water.
Abby "Rocked" her class and was swimming on her own at the end of the session!
