Howie

Our Parent Educator was visiting on Thursday the 19th. She pulled out a book to read to the girls. On the cover was a picture of a hedgehog. Leah got so excited! She started screaming, "Hedgehog! Hedgehog!" Kathy, our educator asked if she just said called the animal on the cover a hedgehog. I told her yes. Kathy said not many kids know what a hedgehog is and she usually refers to it as a porcupine, because when she says hedgehog, all the kids look at her like she has three heads. I told Leah to go get Howie and show Miss Kathy. Leah immediately jumped up and went to her room. She came running out ever so excitedly holding Howie out to show Miss Kathy. Leah told her that it was Howie. Kathy asked where she got it and Leah told her she got it at the zoo. Kathy said she has never known a kid who had a stuffed hedgehog.

For those of you who know, Leah loves Howie. He/She (we aren't sure yet) sleeps with her every night. Although he looks prickly, he is actually quite soft due to the number of washings he's received.
